ECLIPSED AS STAR HERALDS THE INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW SP2000
POS Printer Combines Entry Level Pricing
with Superior Performance for the New Millennium
Leading international POS printer manufacturer,
Star Micronics, announced today the launch of a new range of matrix
printers: the SP2000 Series. Designed to surpass the features
and functionality of competing market offerings, the SP2000 combines
entry-level pricing with the high quality performance and versatility
associated with printers in a higher price bracket.
Retail pricing will be entry level, providing
customers with superior performance for a budget cost, says the
company. Primary features offered by the Star SP2000 Series include
9-pin, graphics quality output at a fast 3.1 lines per second;
and semi-automatic drop-in and insert paper loading.
A POS printer feature that retailers should now consider indispensable.
In addition to the competitive stance of the
new product introduction, the SP2000 has been designed to sit
between the companys established, popular SP200 and SP300
ranges, offering the best of their combined price/performance
features, says the manufacturer. The compact SP2000 has also been
developed with an innovative optional internal/external power
supply. Hidden in the bottom of the printer casing, the design
of this latter feature provides a clean appearance and requires
less counter space. Further flexibility is provided by optional
wall-mounting brackets, ideal for applications such as kitchen
printing.
Developed according to Stars product
obsolescence protection policy, the SP2000 range also provides
customers with unrivalled flexibility to easily and economically
adapt the printer according to system upgrades. Plug-in interfaces
are available, enabling users to swap between parallel and serial
interfaces, as are rewind options.
Supplied in either grey or the new Star white
casing, the SP2000 is available in monochrome and red/black output
versions; and with autocutter or tear-bar. Furthermore, the new
addition to Stars extensive POS printer range is ESC/POS
compatible and has been developed to include space for fiscal
purposes (as required by a number of countries in Europe) and
a MTBF of five million lines (18 million calculated real time).
The new SP2000 Series will be available immediately.
Both the SP200 and SP300 Series will both continue to be marketed
and supported throughout the companys international market.
