STOCKHOLM'S SKAVSTA AIRPORT USES STAR KIOSK PRINTING SOLUTION TO ENHANCE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Stockholm's Skavsta airport, one of Sweden's fastest growing and largest cargo airports in Sweden, offers modern facilities capable of dealing with large volumes of passengers and cargo. In its bid to become the designated second International Airport for Stockholm an assertive expansion programme is in place.

Over the last two years considerable resources have been committed to upgrading the airport to encourage greater growth and to provide a wider choice of airlines and destinations for passengers. As a pioneer of low fares within Scandinavia, the airport is an ideal base for tour operators and airlines alike.

With customer service being a priority for its 1.0 million passengers, the airport has recently implemented the Star Micronics' ground-breaking TUP992 printer in self-service kiosks. The service offers passengers convenient, fast and easy access to 'FlygbussarnaKombi' combination bus tickets which provide an efficient connection between the airport and Stockholm City's local bus service. The airport chose Star Micronics as a result of its ability to provide a high-speed, cost efficient kiosk printing solution offering high quality performance and reliability.

Star Micronics TUP992 is a two-colour kiosk printer capable of output at a fast 150mm per second and designed to accommodate either 15cm or 25cm paper rolls, ranging from 65gsm/0.065mm to 150gsm/0.15mm in thickness, to minimise necessary ticket paper changes. The printer also offers a multi-position adjustable near end paper sensor, presenter and document capture facilities. Its automatic paper loading facility with a 'lift and tilt' mechanism and multi position design provide enhanced flexibility.

Carl-Henrik Jonsson, Managing Director of kiosk manufacturer Megatec, which installed the Star printing solution in their kiosks, comments "Renowned for their high performance products and outstanding reliability, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Star to provide Skavsta airport with a kiosk solution that precisely meets the needs of passengers."

"Customer service is our priority and Star Micronics' kiosk printing solution enables us to provide a fast and efficient service facilitating a smooth and effective transfer for passengers from the airport to the City", says Joakim Lindholm, Operations Manager, Skavsta airport.
