MECHANISM FOR ELECTRONIC CASH REGISTERS SET TO MARK UP SALES FOR SYSTEMS INTEGRATORS

Leading international POS printer and mechanism manufacturer, Star Micronics, announced today, the launch and availability of the MP100 Series of high speed, high performance matrix printer mechanisms for ECR (electronic cash register) manufacturers.

Developed to fill a gap in the market by providing fast, high quality output (bi-directional 3.85 lines per second and 9-pin, respectively) the MP100 also offers four million MCBF for unmatched reliability by any 26 column printer mechanism in its class. Stepper motor control adds to the delivery of graphics quality print and the MP100 is available in either mono (purple or black) or red/black versions.

58mm (2.25") paper widths are catered for by the MP100, providing for 32/26 columns and this latest new product series is supplied with an in-built tear bar with serrated edge.

Star Micronics intends targeting ECR manufacturers as its primary market, particularly those with customers in Eastern Europe where long term performance and reliability are particularly important, due to inconsistent regional support facilities. In addition, the company believes that the MP100 is suitable for data logging and electronic scales-based applications.

Simon Martin, general manager for Star Micronics, commented, "The MP100 offers such unparalleled performance and reliability, that we believe it will be selected by systems integrators and OEMs across a number of markets and applications. The primary one however has to be the ECR market where, until this introduction, there have only been available slow, inflexible mechanisms, offering poor long term performance and unreliability."
