JESSOPS DEVELOPS DIGITAL PRINT KIOSK WITH TSP643
THERMAL RECEIPT PRINTER FROM STAR MICRONICS

Having experienced spectacular growth in digital sales, the UK’s largest independent photographic retailer, Jessops, recently took the decision to develop a fast, instant print solution for its retail stores. The retailer chose electronic and IT solutions provider Integrex to design, develop and manufacture a suitable digital print system.

The result is a kiosk that prints at an exceptional rate of one print every 3.25 seconds. With ease-of-use being key, the kiosk has been designed with straightforward instructions for customers via a full colour touch-screen and easy payment facilities including acceptance of credit card Chip & PIN payments. To allow for centralized support and product enhancements all the kiosks in the different stores are linked via fast broadband connections.

For the printing of receipts Integrex chose to install the TSP643 thermal receipt printer from leading POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics. Selected for its long-term reliability, high speed performance (100mm per second allowing a 20 line receipt to be printed in just 4.1 seconds), two-colour output and ‘Drop-In & Print’ paper loading design, the TSP643 from Star precisely meets the requirement for an efficient and cost-effective receipt printing facility.

A key feature of the printer is its unique ‘second copy raster’ allowing each receipt to be automatically duplicated onto a secondary paper roll or captured electronically for subsequent auditing, without the need for expensive software changes.
