AVERY WEIGH-TRONIX
CHOOSE STAR TUP900
Avery Weigh-Tronix has announced
specifying the Star Micronics TUP900 thermal kiosk printer from
DED Limited for a weighbridge application at a dock coal yard.
An integral part of the kiosk, the TUP900, is being used to print
receipts detailing the weight and load information of vehicles.
Raj Rao, Project Manager at Avery Weigh-Tronix,
contacted DED in October 2005 looking for a kiosk printer that
would stand up to one of the most demanding environments –
on shore gales direct from the North Sea!
Positioned at vehicle cab height in a driver
operated terminal, the TUP900 was primarily selected for the length
of paper roll it is capable of carrying. With a 600 metre roll
as standard, the TUP900 can print hundreds of receipts before
the roll needs changing. The advantages of the TUP900 in this
case were very easy to see, the fewer paper roll changes in extreme
weather conditions the better.
On working with DED, Raj Rao commented, “Initial
indications are that the TUP900 has turned out to be an ideal
printer for the job, so much so that Avery Weigh-Tronix is considering
adopting it as a standard printer for all future kiosks of this
nature.”
Printing 150mm per second, the TUP900 features
easy paper loading using an auto loading mechanism, a slim line,
jam free presenter ensuring that receipts are presented to the
user after printing is completed, full or partial receipt cutter
and it comes with either Parallel, RS232C Serial, USB or Ethernet
interfaces.
Avery Weigh-Tronix is the UK’s leading
weighing equipment manufacturer. Its range of weighbridge solutions
help to monitor and control the movement of bulk materials, with
a choice of steel or concrete decks and a wide range of software
packages for increased management control. All products are supported
by the company’s nationwide service force.
